About me

Being born and raised in Iceland, I admit there was a point when I believed that all musicals were written in the 1950s by the Norwegian dramatist Thorbjørn Egner, addressing social issues like dental hygiene and vegetarianism. Since realising the genre extends slightly beyond Egner, I have been obsessed with figuring out how they work.

I am a writer, composer and actor, a graduate of LAMDA (Acting) and NYU's Tisch School of the Arts (M.F.A. in Musical Theatre Writing) and constantly looking for ways to make musicals do things they’re not supposed to, passionate about stories that surprise, songs that stick, and theatre that breaks the rules.

My original works include The Forty Elephants, a musical about an all-female crime syndicate in Victorian London (workshopped and performed in the UK and US), and LoveStar, a musical adaptation of Andri Snær Magnason's award-winning sci-fi novel. As a translator, I have brought the works of Stephen Sondheim (Into the Woods) and Lisa Kron (Fun Home) to the Icelandic stage. Beyond writing, I work as a versatile artist, directing and producing across theatre, film, and radio.

Currently developing multiple new musicals through workshops and development processes in the US, UK and Iceland.
